Tania Bruguera is an interdisciplinary artist whose work is grounded in the act of doing or behavior art. The artist embodies personal experience with a wide-raging social and historical perspective to explore diverse issues such as, institutionalized injustice and prejudice, displacement and ostracism, will power and resilience, and personal/social survival.

She received her MFAs from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (United States) and Instituto Superior de Arte (Cuba). Her BFA is from Escuela de Arte San Alejandro (Havana). In 1998 she was selected as a Guggenheim Fellowship Award (United States).

Her work is part of the collection of MoMA - Museum of Modern Art (United States); the Museum für Moderne Kunst (Germany); Daros Foundation (Switzerland); JP Morgan Chase Bank (United States); Bronx Museum of the Arts (United States); Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (Cuba); Centro de Arte Contemporáneo Wifredo Lam (Cuba); The New Museum for Latin American Art (England). Bruguera has had solo exhibitions at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Havana (2003); Turin, Neuberger Museum of Art, Purchase College, New York (2010); Tate Modern, London (2012); and Van Abbemuseum, Netherlands (2014), among others.
